Mrs. Addie Howk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Burkey, was born January 1st 1863; (1863) was married to Mr. John Howk August 20th 1899, and died August 21th 1901. The writer was personally acquainted with Sister Addie. She was identified with the New Light denomination, yet according to her life, and the sweet spirit she manifested, we believe she was indeed a member of the Church of God.

Her married life was but short. She preceded her mother to the better land but a short time. She leaves a husband, relatives and a host of friends to mourn their loss. The funeral was preached by the writer to a large congregation of relatives and friends, among whom there were but few dry eyes. After which her body was laid to rest in the Knight cemetery to await the morning of the resurrection. J. C. West.
