Ruby was born to Lena and Cullen Hale in Russell County, Kentucky. She had one sister, Doris Sullivan.
After finishing high school, she taught grade school. You didn't need college back then to teach. It was basically the three R's.
Later, she met and married Kilbreth Lucian Jones. They had three children; Dr. David Hale Jones, James Howard Jones, and Margaret Ann Jones.
Ruby worked in the cafeteria at Delco Remy. She was an excellent cook and had many other interests including gardening, sewing, and crocheting, and social clubs.
