Sara Herzog MacDonald, aged 80, residing in Tucson, Arizona, passed away on April 10, 2023.

Sara, was born on September 6, 1942 in Wheeling, West Virginia and grew up in Blaine and St. Clairsville, Ohio. She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she obtained a bachelor of science in Secondary Education. She later studied at Northern Arizona University, obtaining three masters of art degrees in Educational Administration, Reading, and Elementary Education.

She later taught in Cleveland and Fairfield, Ohio, and in Lake Havasu City, Globe, and Miami, Arizona. While living in the Globe-Miami area, she also served for many years as the Miami High School librarian, taught summer school at Eastern Arizona College and volunteered at Holy Angels School. She also held administrator positions in Miami, Tucson, and Globe, Arizona.

She participated in many community activities. She attended Presbyterian churches and was a longtime member of the sororities Delta Kappa Gamma and Beta Sigma Phi.

She enjoyed nature and designed the family cabin in New Mexico. She likewise designed parts of the white house on the hill behind Holy Angels School in Globe. She had a hand in gardening, sewing, crocheting, camping, boating, and occasionally absolutely horrible cooking. She painted the inside of her house bright yellow and stood by the decision.

Growing up, she loved to read, played the trombone and wore a plethora of homemade dresses to school dances. She loved long road trips and was thrilled to trek back to her hometown in Ohio just after her 80th birthday. She loved having caramel frappuccinos and watching interior design shows.

Sara was preceded in death by her husband of almost 42 years, Walter Linn MacDonald and both of her parents (Homer and Elizabeth Herzog).

She is survived by her sister Jane Cooper (Leonard), her children Keziah Maxfield, Ethan MacDonald, and Shelby Gaither (Logan), granddaughter Kenda Maxfield-Potts, and nephew LJ Cooper (Kathy).

Her services will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00 am.
