Mrs. Callie Alford Register, 88, of Lake City, Florida, died Monday July 28, 2003 at the Lake City Medical Center.
A native of Columbia County, Fl., Mrs. Register has lived in Lake City since 1981. She was a faithful member of the Southside Baptist Church in Lake City. Mrs. Register was the daughter of the late Riley Raymond Alford and Georgia Hines. She was a retired seamstress and was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. Mrs. Register was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Perry Register in March of this year.
Mrs. Register is survived by 2 daughters Ida Sasser, and Diane Knoy (Joseph), all of Jacksonville, FL, 2 brothers George E. Alford of Lake City, and Daniel Alford of Providence, Fl., 2 sisters, Zona Mae Heath of Eustis, Fl., and Delma Cobb of Middleburg, Fl., 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday July 31, 2003 in the Sherrill Guerry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mike Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery Fund, 821 NE Needmore Rd., Lake City, Florida, 32055.
