Conduct Final Rites for Dennis Keim
1857-1941

Services for Dennis Keim who died February 5, 1941 were conducted by Rev. Henry Dumler at Christ's Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon and interment was made in the Davenport Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Cuthbert Miller, Howard Snyder, Frank Kretchman, Frank Clark, Ray Berkey, and Wm. Snyder.

Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. F. A. Mountford, Mrs. Evelyn Mersch, and Mrs. Ray Berkey and Raoma Berkey, who sang Sweet Hour of Prayer, Abide With Me, and Home of the Soul.

Mr. Keim was a successful farmer who believed in a diversified system of farming in which livestock played a most important part. Gainful use of roughage, work the year around, better prices for grain fed to livestock and thus more income, were practices that he often stressed when asked about his success in the farming business.

He was born in Salisbury, Pa., on August 30, 1857, and had reached the age of 83 years, 5 months and 5 days at the time of his death.

He married Sarah Jane Cramer at Meyersdale, Pa. on March 18, 1882. To this union seven children were born, five of whom survive him; Frank of Lincoln; Olive, Mrs. Eph Miller, Glen, Ray, and May, Mrs. Floyd Row all of Davenport, Harry, the oldest died at the age of 3 years in 1886 and Will passed away February 7, 1934 at the age of 45. Mr. Keim is also survived by four brothers. Henry Keim of Davenport, Jonas Keim of Lawrence, Dr. W.F. Keim of Newark, N.J. and Jake Keim of Addison, Pa.
16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Keim started housekeeping near Rockwood, Pa. They came to Nebraska in February, 1886 and purchased a farm six miles north of Hardy. He had difficulty obtaining water for the amount of livestock he wanted to keep, and about 1890, sold his farm and purchased one five miles southwest of Davenport, where he lived for over 42 years.

During the past nine years of his life he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Eph. Miller 4 ½ miles southeast of Davenport.

He united with Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davenport, March 31, 1929.

Those from out-of-town who attended the funeral were:
W.E. Lyness, J.E. Russel, Jerome Srb, D.L. Gross,
