Mrs. Ethel Brinkley Alexander passed away Thursday morning, November 19, 1959, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. David Wilson, Greenville, S.C., where she had resided for the past three months. Widow of the late Dr. Henry Quincy Alexander of Pineville, she was born July 18, 1888 in Wilson County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late E.R. and Obeda Neares Brinkley. She was a member of the Pineville Presbyterian Church. Survivors are five daughters: Mrs. David Wilson, Greenville, S.C.; Mrs. C. Frederick McArver, Gastonia; Mrs. W.E. Furr Jr., Miami, Fla.; Mrs. H.J. Winn Jr., Columbia, S.C.; and Mrs. J.M. Hodge Jr., Atlanta, Ga; four stepdaughters, Mrs. George Hollowell, Mrs. Fred Teal, and Mrs. Jessie Lydic, Takoma Park, Md., and Mrs. Quentin Rosley, Washington D.C.; two step-sons, Mr. Dwight M. Alexander, Matthews, and Capt. Henry M. Alexander, Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Dixon Hood, Richland, N.C.; and two brothers, Judge Robert Lloyd Brinkley, Wilson, N.C., and Edgar Brinkley, Elm City, N.C. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2p.m. at the Pineville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Paul Thrower of Pickens, S.C. and the Rev. John E. Lake, pastor, Providence Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by the McEwen Funeral Service.
