Funeral services for Beulah "Gemi" Lavespere Whatley were held Monday, May 12, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ball with interment following in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball. Mrs. Jane Connerly, Pastor of Woodland Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Mrs. Whatley, 76, of Pineville, entered eternal rest at home under Hospice Care for Alzheimers Disease on Thursday, May 8, 2008.

She was born in Selma, Louisiana to the union of Paul B. and Agnes Roberts Lavespere.

She graduated with the American Legion Award from Colfax High School in 1948.

After marriage, she attended and graduated Cum Laude from McNeese State University in Lake Charles majoring in Sociology and minoring in Psychology in 1977.

She enjoyed many years of a working career in the care of mentally challenged youth in Lake Charles.

Gemi, was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes Roberts Lavespere, her father, Paul B. Lavespere; two children, Stephen and Lori Ellen Whatley.

Her loving family left behind to cherish her memory is two daughters and one son-in-law; one son and daughter-in-law; her husband of 57 years, Benjamin D. Whatley; and her brother and sister-in-law.
