Funeral services for James Clyde Akers, 83, Davis, were Dec 30, 1989 at Dougherty Baptist Church, with Rev Finis Steelman officiating. Interment was at Dougherty Cemetery with Fox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Akers was born Aug 7, 1906 at Foster and Died Dec 28, 1989 at Burford Manor. He had lived in Dougherty since 1948 and had been a restaurant owner. He married Exa M Parker Williams, April 23, 1932 at Moore. She preceded him in death Oct 20, 1985.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Velma Russell of Atwood; a step-son Alfred Williams of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Edna Wagonsoult, Mae Beach and Faye Boeing all of Fletcher; four brothers, Henry B Akers, Kingston, John and Leroy Akers, Dougherty, and Buddy Akers, Sanger, TX; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Rose Parrish, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were Willard McCartney, Willard McCartney Jr, Sandy McCartney, Edward Busby, Aaron Coll and Glen Hale.
