Son of James and Katie McCabe, Husband of Elsie May, Father of Max, Gloria, Yvonne, John and Vince and my Grandad.
My Grandad was a Blacksmith and Wheel Wright, first working the Blue Metal Quarries of Kiama and Shellharbour and then on to his own buisness with his brother Syd as the local Blacksmiths. They were the first in the town of Shellharbour to have a Sulky with Rubber Tyres. He was a Horseman, and Rifleman in the local gun club.
Grandad also had his own maket garden and could turn his hand to anything to eke out a living. Self sufficient and proud of it.
He was also a devout Catholic with strong Irish blood lines, and in later years was a keeper of Church in Maintanance/Cleaning and Flowering.
Grandad would tell great stories whilst singing a tune, he made me laugh with his humourous way. I miss my Grandad as he was the first to leave us.
