Florene (Yokley) Huckleby "Mother Huckleby", was born February 23, 1912, in Newport, Virginia to Daniel and Flora (Clark) Yokley. At age 88, she went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 26, 2001, at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Florene was a devout member of New Faith Baptist Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. James W. Huckleby Sr., a Columbus Firefighter; mother Flora Yokley,;brothers, Willie Lee "Uncle Bobby" Yokley and Leon Yokley.
Florene is urvived by her daughters, Charlene Sharp, Cecile Glenn Towns, Minister Walda Johnson and Karen Warren; son, James (Linda) W. Huckleby Jr.; brother, Weldon Yokley, loyal to the end; Lottie McCoy and Emma McCoy; 18 grandchilden; 41 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives, friends and neighbors.
