Reese G. Bailey 57, a retired coal operator of the Williamson coal field, died Saturday at 6 o'clock at his home in Tazewell. He had been in declining health for the past year, suffering from heart trouble. Mr. Bailey was actively engaged in the mining industry of the Williamson coal field from 1919 to 1926 when he retired because of his health. He operated the R.G. Bailey Coal Company, the Black Diamond Coal Company, and G.D. and D.C. Coal company. He disposed of theses companies shortly before his retirement. Mr. Bailey was a native of Tazewell County, having been born and reared in Baptist Valley. His aged mother, Mrs. Eliza Bailey survived as does his widow, who before marriage was Miss Mae Hawkins, and the following children; Mrs. D. C. Anderson, Tazewell; Mrs. L. E. Padgett, Tazewell; Mrs. F. J. Varney, Williamson; W. E. Bailey, Williamson; Miss Vernon Bailey, Fred Bailey and Robert Bailey all of Tazewell.
