CORLL, Alfred
Husband of Janette (Nettie) nee YOUNG(Married: 21 Feb 1878)
29 July 1845 to 25 Jan 1882

Mahoning Dispatch, Fri, 24 Feb 1882
Alfred Corll died at his father's residence in Canfield township, Jan. 25th, 1882, aged 36 years, 5 months and 27 days. In the death of Brother Corll, the Zion Reformed church at Canfield has lost one of her most esteemed members. He united with the church some years ago with a number of others, and took an interest in its welfare until his death, although of late he was unable to attend. The last words spoken by him were; "I hope to meet you all in Heaven." Alfred Corll, son of Mr. Samuel and, Mrs. Elizabeth Corll, was a beloved son of his parents, and brother of the entire family, and an affectionate husband. May God raise up others who will take his place in the community and in the church, for his example was a good one for all. May the blessings of God fall in copious showers upon the bereaved widow and her child, who are thus early called upon to mourn his departure. Peace be unto his ashes. Text of the funeral discourse was from Philip, 1st chap., 21st. verse. The following hymn was sung at the funeral:
"Sweet is the scene when Christian die, when holy souls retire to rest;
How gently leaves the expiring breast – so fades a summer cloud away;
So sinks the gale when the storms are o'er;
So gently shuts the eye of day;
So dies a wave along the shore.
"Triumphant smiles the victor's brow;
Fann'd by some guardian angel's wing;
Oh, Grave! Where is thy victory now?
And where, O' Death! Where is thy sting?"
Rev. J. B. Zumpe
