Grover Burkett spent his entire life in Nuckolls County. He attended the Oak, Nebraska schools. He was baptized at Oak.
Mr. Burkett was united in marriage to Doris Kramer of Nelson, Nebraska on March 23, 1936. To this union was born four children: Larry Lee who died in infancy, Beverly, Candas and Pamela.
He made his home at Ruskin, Nebraska for the past 27 years. During this time he was employed with the Nuckolls County Road Dept.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; three daughters, Beverly, Mrs. Clayton E. Myers of Nelson, Nebraska; Candas, Mrs. Max Deepe of Hebron, Nebraska and Pamela at home; three grandchildren, Jodi Myers, Darren Myers and Anthony Deepe; six sisters, Mrs. Roy Thurber of Clay Center, Nebraska; Mrs. William Merrill of Hastings, Nebraska, Mrs. Wilbur Whartman of Grand Island, Nebraska, Mrs. Herald Whartman of Grand Island, Nebraska; Mrs. G.D. Follmer of Green River, Wyoming and Mrs. Gene Kramer of Ruskin, Nebraska. Also by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Burkett was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Elbert, Bee and Joseph.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 20, 1970 at 2:00 p.m. in the Klawitter Funeral Chapel, Nelson, Nebraska with Rev. L.A. Hansen of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetary (sic), Nelson, Nebraska. Klawitter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Casket Bearers were: Leverle Shipley, Levonn Peterson, Darrell Ward, Harry Snyder, Marion Devitt and Vern Snyder.
