Robert Wakefield "Wake" Bedwell, son of William and Eliza (Gibbs) Bedwell, was born near Spring Hill Nov. 26, 1869. He died at his home near Spring Hill Sunday, July 3, at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 10 days.

Mr. Bedwell lived within a few miles of Spring Hill all his life. His schooling was received at the Hughes schoolhouse. On Dec. 1, 1892, he was united in marriage to Nevada Comer, who also had lived all her life in the same neighborhood.

To them were born eight children, three of whom died in infancy. Five sons: Ernest, Glenn, Ray and Orville of Chicago, Ill., and Howard of Los Angeles, Calif., survive their father's death. There are nine grandchildren and one great grandson among those surviving. Three sisters: Miss Rose Bedwell, Indianola; Miss Ella Bedwell, Des Moines; and Mrs. Mary Andrews of Colfax also mourn their brother's death.

Mr. Bedwell had been a farmer during all the active years of his life. He had taken an active interest in church and Sunday school and in various community activities.
