Eliza Myers was born Oct., 8th, 1837 and died May 31st, 1895 at 4:30 p.m. being 57 years 6 mo, and 35 days old. She was born in Jennings Co., Indiana where she spent her early life and grew up to a healthy robust womanhood. She was married to Wm. Myers the 22nd day of May, 1854, and spent the early part of their married life in Indiana. They removed to Iowa 23 years ago, and settled at Greenbush and lived three years there and then moved to her last earthly home one-half mile east of Spring Hill where she lived until the time of her death. To them were born 12 children: 10 boys and 2 girls; four of the boys and one of the girls have preceded her into the great beyond. She joined the Christian Church in Indiana 25 years ago and after removing to Iowa she came into the M.E. Church at Spring Hill by letter soon after her removal to Iowa and has retained her membership here at the church of her choice until the time of her death. Her sickness began in a serious form one year ago, since which time she has been a constant sufferer; even to an extent greater than words can explain. She had known for several months that she could not get well and had been resigned to her fate waiting with patience the time when her summons should come. She had spent many of the last days of her life in prayer and had frequently expressed herself as fully conscious of sins pardoned and a strong hope that she would meet her Savior. She had made arrangements about her funeral prior to her death and designated the spot where she wanted to be buried. She met death without a fear, and with a full assurance to her friends that she was going to a better world.
