FUNERAL FOR LONG-TIME
CHEROKEE RESIDENT HELD.


Galena, Kan., Aug. 9.—Orval H. Kenworthy, 69 years old, a resident of Cherokee county most of his life, died last Wednesday at Mount Carmel hospital in Pittsburg. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the farm home near Cherokee. The Rev. Alphan Goodrick, pastor of the Galena Christian church, officiated. Burial was in Quaker Valley cemetery.

Mr. Kenworthy was born in Iowa but came to Cherokee county with his parents when he was 17 years old. The family settled on a farm near Crestline. In more recent years, he had been living in the vicinity of Cherokee. Kenworthy married Miss Delia E. Gustin of Neosho in 1890, who survives him. Ten children, five sons and five daughters, were born to the couple. The sons preceded him in death. Besides the widow, surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Una Jones and Mrs. Sussie Spencer of Willow Springs, Mo., Mrs. Jessie Paul of Baxter Springs, Mrs. Blanche Shinn of Douthat and Mrs. Neva Lawrence of Pasadena, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
