Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Monday, February 2, 1953:
  Carl William Ackerman, 56, who had recently become a resident of Tampa, Fla., died Sunday at 2:05 a.m. Before moving to Florida he was a resident of Troy and before that a resident of Edwardsville. He retired from farming about eight years ago.
  He was born April 10, 1896, the son of the late Henry William and Elizabeth Gerling Ackerman. He married Melanie Theiss of New Jersey, April 8, 1919 at Paterson, N.J. She survives.
  He is also survived by two sons, William and Kenneth of Troy and Donald of Sorento; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Schneider of Troy; one brother, Edwin of Troy; a sister, Mrs. Della Wessel of Troy, and five grandchildren.
  He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church at Troy.
  The body may be viewed at the Edwards funeral home in Troy after 7 p.m. Tuesday until 12 noon Thursday when the body will be taken to St. Paul's Lutheran church where services will be conducted at 2 p.m.
  Burial will be in Valley View cemetery.
