Born Alison Fisher, she was raised in Ariss, Ontario. In 1997 she graduated from McMaster University with a degree in gerontology and occupational therapy.
Alison worked at Providence Children's Centre, a preschool for children with disabilities, until 2003 when she left on maternity leave to have her first daughter. She also worked with the Calgary Health Region. She was 35. Alison was remembered as a devoted mother and loving friend.
She was found dead in her home in Calgary, Alberta along with her husband, two older daughters and a downstairs tenant. The youngest girl was unharmed and will be raised by relatives.
