He was an Armenian widower who immigrated to America in 1900 according to the 1910 census, however he is listed in the Philadelphia 1895 city directory. He had a tailor shop with his brother James, who had joined the Quakers in 1892. So far no record has been found of Bedros joining as well, but this explains why he is buried in a Quaker burial ground. Bedros died of a cerebral hemorrhage at Hahnemann Hospital. At this time he lived with his daughter Anna. The cemetery record has his name incorrectly spelled Hamparsounian. Another common spelling variation is Hampersoomian, like his daughter used. James gave his parents names as Hamparsoom & Anna, and the children took on the last name meaning sons of Hampar per Armenian tradition.
