Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at University Christian Church. Interment: 1 p.m. in Bourland Cemetery, Keller. Visitation: Mrs. Lowther will lie in state in the Parlor and her family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Great Room at the funeral home.
Elberta Pipkin Lowther, a native of Keller and a longtime resident of Fort Worth, was a graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing and a faithful member of University Christian Church for over 50 years. She retired as a nurse from the Fort Worth ISD and enjoyed extensive travels through the United States, Europe and Canada. She was a season ticketholder for TCU football and a member of the TCU Frog Club and TCU Women's Saturday Group. At her church, she taught Sunday school, was active in the Christian Women's Fellowship and served as leader on a variety of committees and circles. Elberta was active in the Women's Club of Fort Worth and the St. Joseph School of Nursing Alumni organization. During the last three years she was a resident of Stonegate Nursing Center and attended by Odyssey hospice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ella and Burt Pipkin; sisters, Lenora White and Ouita Rigney; brother, John Pipkin; and husband, John Lowther Sr.
Survivors: Son, John Lowther Jr. and wife, Gayle, of New Mexico; daughter, Patricia Lowther of California; brother, Kirk Pipkin of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
