Three children were born, only two are still living. Fidesta Armstrong died in 1875. Also her son also died.
In 1877 Harry married Hattie Dawley of Rutland County VT, they had one son and three daughters. Herbert H Armstrong, May Laros, Ruth Walker, and Dawley Child , who died a few years ago.
The Armstrongs were a vigorous and rugged family and honest.
Harry was postmaster of Dresden in the early years and moved to Grinnell in the spring of 1881 and with his father joined the coal business of AC Armstrong and Co..
Later he was a member of Simmons and Armstrong in the grocery business.
During all of the forty eight years that he has lived here he has been a recognized a man of strict interety.
No man has lived a better life than Harry Armstrong and few has been as useful to the community in which he lived.
Relatives surviving are three sisters Mrs WC Hastings and and Mrs J W Robison of Grinnell, Mrs Ida Williams of Claremont New Hampshire: four daughters Hattie Hasting of Grinnell, who was my great grandmother, Almetta Burd of Cedar Rapids IA, May Laros of Hart Michigan and Ruth Walker of Iowa City IA: two grandchildren Edna Barnes of Grinnell IA, and Harry Hastings of Bloomington IL; three great grandchildren Donald,my father and Paul Barnes and Evelyn Louse, daughter of Harry Hastings.
