Norman T. Ditch, 76, of Waynesboro R. D. 4 was pronounced dead on arrival at the Waynesboro at 6:30 a.m. today. He had been in failing health since suffering a stroke in August 1966. Mr. Ditch was taken t the hospital after becoming critically ill early this morning.
He was born at Roadside on March 29, 1897, son of the late John and Laura (Calimer) Ditch. Most of his life was lived in the Roadside area.
As a young man he was employed at the Geiser Co., and later learned his trade as moulder at Frick Co. Mr. Ditch worked at Landis tool Co. for 25 years and prior to his retirement in 1962, he was employed at Landis Machine Co for 11 years in the foundry and chaser department.
His wife Mrs. Katie C. (Patterson) Ditch died in November 1969.
Mr. Ditch is survived by these children; Kenneth Ditch, Wayne Heights; Walter Ditch, Richard Ditch, Lee Ditch, Mrs. Lucy Jones, and Mrs. Eva Shockey all of Waynesboro R. D. 5. Clyde Ditch, Waynesboro R. D. 1, Melvin Ditch Waynesboro, R. D. 3, Mrs. Catherine Daywalt, Fayetteville, R. D. 2, and Mrs. Clara Nunn, Waynesboro. Also surviving are 42 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Etha Monn and a brother Nelson Ditch both of Waynesboro.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Grove Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Ralph Wise. Burial will be in the Harbaugh Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today.
