Mrs. Katie C. Ditch, 73, wife of Norman T. Ditch, died at 3:15 a.m. today at her home, Waynesboro R. D. 5. She had been in failing health for three years and was confined to her bed for the past four months. She had been critically ill for a week.
She was born at Old Forge, on May 16, 1896, a daughter of the late Wesley and Mary Ann Calimer Patterson. Her early life was lived at Old Forge. She and Mr. Ditch were married in March 1918 and for the past 51 years had lived at Roadside.
For a number of years, Mrs. Ditch did housework in various homes in Waynesboro.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by these children; Kenneth Ditch of Wayne Heights, Walter Ditch, Richard Ditch, Lee Ditch, and Mrs. Eva Shockey, all of Waynesboro R. D. 5, Clyde Ditch, Waynesboro R. D. 1, Melvin Ditch, Mrs. Lucy Jones and Mrs. Lucy Jones and Mrs. Clara Nunn, all of Waynesboro, and Mrs. Catherine Daywalt, Fayetteville, R. D. 2. Also surviving are 42 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a brother, John D. Patterson, Baltimore.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Grove Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Ralph C. Wise. Burial will be made in the Harbaugh Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 pm. Monday.
