Chico Record, Saturday Morning, September 28, 1907, pg 5 col 3: Death Takes Another Veteran of the War. Elza Woolverton, an old resident of Chico and a veteran of the civil war, died yesterday afternoon at the home on Ninth street, near Ivy.
Deceased was born in 1840, and served about three years in the civil war, being a private in Company H, Twenty-third Regulars, Veteran Reserve Corps. He leaves a wife.
The funeral will probably be attended by the members of the G.A.R., though deceased did not maintain his standing as a member of that organization.
