Chico Record, Tuesday Morning, May 26, 1903, pg 1 col 1: Death of George Dickson. George Dickson, an old man who had labored in this vicinity only a short time and was taken ill with fever died at the City Hall yesterday morning shortly after 11 o'clock. Dickson had been too proud to ask for assistance when he became ill. Suffering from a fever, he was found Friday night wandering on the streets, so one of the officers took him to the city hospital room and called a physician. The fever failed to yield to treatment, though the physician gave him every attention, visiting him several times a day.

Dickson was about 70 years of age. A short time before his death, he state to Marshal White that he was born in Allegheny, Pa., where three brothers now reside. He had worked on the Vina ranch of the Stanford estate, on farms in the vicinity of Red Bluff and until the death of J.H. Lang at Marysville, he had made Lang's home his headquarters.

Chico Record, Wednesday Morning, May 27, 1903, pg 1 col 4: Dixon Inquest. Coroner Sol Pettit held an inquest yesterday over the remains of George Dixon, the old man who died at the City Hall Monday. It appeared from the testimony that the deceased had prominent relatives in Allegheny, Pa.; that he had served in the Civil War, as a member of Company A, Reg. Cavalry Volunteers, and that he was honorably discharged. On him was found a medal presented to him by the State of West Virginia. He was 70 years of age. Drs. Enloe and Hamilton held an autopsy for the purpose of satisfying themselves as to the cause of death, but no charge for the same will be made to the county, as the Coroner held an autopsy to be unnecessary. The physicians found that death was due to an occlusion of the bile duct.
