Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Ann Akers, age 69, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 23, 2010 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jack Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Ragsdale Cemetery. Visitation with the Akers family will be Friday morning from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Mrs. Akers was born in Manchester, TN, the daughter of the late Clarence Henry and Sadie Jones Phipps. She was a CNA in the healthcare industry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Akers; one son, Randy Akers; and one sister, Clara Rovsek. Her survivors include one son, Tony Akers; one daughter, Roxanne Akers; one brother, Elzie Phipps; one sister, Margie Algood; three grandchildren, Chadney Akers, Leticia Akers, and Austin Akers; and special friends, Nicole Jernigan, John Bell and Timothy Wimbley.
