Daughter of Archibald McLean (and sister of Susanna McLean)
Wife of Duncan McGirt
Mother of: Archibald "Baldy" McGirt III (b.1818), John McGirt (b.1820), Alexander McGirt (b.1822), James McGirt (b. 1825), Eliza Jane McGirt (b. 1827), Washington McGirt (b. 1830), Duncan A. McGirt (b. 1833), Margaret Ann McGirt (b. 1836)

The April 12, 1858 edition of the Fayetteville Weekly Observer included:

DIED,

Near Alfordsville, Robeson County, N.C., on the 1st inst., Mrs. ELIZABETH McGIRT, wife of Duncan McGirt, deceased; in the 61st year of her age. She lived a consistent Christian life, as a member of the Ashpole Presbyterian Church. Forty years she was associated with the people of God, in the church on earth, and now it is believed she is experiencing the truth of the blessed promise; "Those that are planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish in the courts of our God." Planted in the house militant, she no doubt flourishes in the courts triumphant. Few aged Christians have died more respected or more earnestly lamented by surviving friends.--Com.
