The August 14, 1939 edition of The Robesonian included: LeRoy McCallum Rites Are Held At Old Home – Funeral services for Leroy McCallum, 31 year-old Robeson county home employee who died at a local sanatorium Friday night of anemia, were conducted Sunday afternoon at the graveside in a burial ground at the old McCallum homestead near Elrod. A native of Robeson county, Mr. McCallum had been engaged in farming until about 18 months ago when he came to the county home. He was a member of Midway Presbyterian Church. His death followed several weeks in failing health. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. L. (Scotch) McCallum, deceased is survived by 7 brothers, Lawrence and Joe T. McCallum of Maxton, N.B. McCallum of the Back Swamp section, J. Frank and R. Bruce McCallum of Anderson, S.C., Paul McCallum of Moultrie, Fla., and Howard R. McCallum of near Little Rock, S.C.

McR Bracey, Miss Sara Lee Bracy, Adrian McRae, J. F. Bullock, R. H. McGirt, Mr. and Mrs. Evans McLean, Dr. D. D. Bullock.
