Sarah D. Turner died at her home at 1115 Fifth Avenue in Des Moines on January 15, 1929, following a brief illness. She was born April 27, 1857, in Polk City, Iowa, the daughter of Reason Trenary and Caroline R. (Andersson) Allen, and when two years of age came with her parents to Des Moines.

She was educated in the public schools of Des Moines and was graduated from West High School. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, in which she was an active member. She also was a member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 89.

She was married November 12, 1878, in Des Moines, to Robert Turner, a native of Scotland. They celebrated their golden anniversary in the year before her death. They had resided at their home on Fifth Avenue for 47 years before her death.

Besides her husband, she was survived by their daughters Margaret Bell Smith (wife of Dr. Channing G. Smith) of Granger, Iowa; Rose Louise Copeland (wife of James W. Copeland) of San Antonio, Texas; Lillian Sarah Bryan (wife of Marcus J. Bryan) of Casper, Wyoming; and their son Dr. William R. Turner of Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was predeceased by two young children Caroline (1880-1884) and Robert (1886-1887). Funeral services were held at her home on January 18th, with burial in Woodland Cemetery.
