Wilber Fiske Harris was born in Washington, Beaufort Co, NC to John Philip Harris II and Florence June (Reid) Harris on June 22, 1906.
He attended public schools in town, and attended Coyne Electric School in Chicago, Ill. He was married to Nellie Gray Sadler in 1932 and divorced in 1939. He worked in Washington DC as a car sales man and real estate agent for Ernest Aiken. He was married to Melda Elizabeth Beitzel on April 10, 1941 at Portsmouth, Va. He worked as a salesman for MMM in New Jersey and then High Point, NC. He was separated from Melda in July 1951. He married Kathleen "Kat" Frazier Vereen on Nov 26, 1952. He had a heart attack in the mid 1950's after that he began to own and operate the News and Record Center on North Main Street in High Point. He died age 68 years 4 months from a heart attack and complications of Diabetes on October 22, 1974. He was survived by his wife, Kat; a sister Florence Harris of Atlanta, Ga; two daughters Florence Harris Abel of Greenbelt, MD and Joan Harris Griffith of Edgewater, MD, and three grandchildren: Karen, Linda, Catherine Griffith.
