She was born July 30, 1915, in Port Arthur, to her late parents, Clinton Young and Regina Broussard Young, lived in Baytown for over 70 years and graduated from Cedar Bayou High School in 1933. In 1936 she married Robert Pitts Kerr, and until recently, resided in Baytown on Whiting Street, where she and Robert raised three sons.
Estella was a long time member of Memorial Baptist Church and the '39 Study Club. During the early school days of her sons, she was very active in the Parent Teachers Association, having served in many capacities, including President. She was a volunteer at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital for over 20 years.
Mrs. Kerr was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Kerr, her parents and a brother, Al Young.
Survivors include: sons, Robert A. Kerr and his wife Julia of Kingwood, Ben Kerr and his wife Mary Margaret of McGregor and Mike Kerr and his wife Camille of Fort Worth; brother, Charles Young of Baytown; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston with Rev. Brad Hoffmann officiating.
