Son of Lequarious Grief "Lee" and Mary Jane (Keith) Slaughter.
According to family legend, Paris was born on February 29, 1884, and would celebrate his birthday on March 1st during non leap years, but all of the documentation I've seen give his date of birth as February 28, 1884.
He was born in Lee County, Virginia, and moved with his family to Hendricks County, Indiana around 1890. He moved to Indianapolis around 1906, and lived there the rest of his life.
He married Ina May Callahan on October 23, 1912 and had 8 children.
He worked as an accountant for the Indiana Bell Telephone Company.

From The Indianapolis Star - Thursday, October 31, 1946:

"Paris Slaughter, 62 years old, 1138 West 33rd Street, an accountant 27 years for the Indiana Bell Telephone Company, died yesterday after an illness of eight years.
Mr. Slaughter was born in Lee County, Virginia, lived here 40 years and was a member of North Park Masonic Lodge and Seventh Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary. Burial will be in Washington Park Cemetery.
SURVIVORS are the widow, Mrs. Ina Callahan Slaughter, two sons, Ralph Slaughter and Howard Slaughter; five daughters, Mrs. Charles Kirk, Mrs. James Gemeiner, Miss Marie Slaughter, Mrs. Eugene Combs and Mrs. Carl Townsend; two brothers, William Slaughter and Claude Slaughter, all of Indianapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Hale of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Charles Hutchinson of Rockport."

Note: Paris and Ina May had another daughter named Bertha, who was not mentioned in the above obituary. She disappeared in 1941, and was never heard from again. To this day, the family has no idea what happened to her.
