Roy was born in 1908 in Carroll County Georgia. When he was a young man he was involved in a mule and wagon accident which eventually cost him his leg. Roy married Lula Mae Craig and had 7 children. The last of which died at birth. Lula Mae died the same day. Roy was trained as a Cobbler and he owned and opereated several stores in and around Georgia. His youngest son Herman took on the trade and opened up a shoe repair business in Houston, Texas. The trade carried on to a 3rd generation when his grandson Andy opened up a shop in Katy, Texas.
Roy eventually went on to marry 3 other women, Sarah McGhee, Mary Jo Stewart and Frances Kelly .
He was well loved and is very much missed by his entire family.
