Born in Ireland. Came with his family to Baltimore and later settled in Morrow Co OH.Alexis Lemmon came to Baltimore, Maryland from Ireland. He and his six brothers became great patriots in the struggle with the Mother Country. He is the only know veteran of the Revolutionary War to be buried at Shauck Cemetery. On January 4, 1777, Alexis was commissioned as Captain in Washington's Army, serving under General Stansbury. He married General Stansbury's sister, Rachel (b. Nov. 9, 1746). He acquired a large plantation called "Eight Sisters" named for his eight daughters born between the war years of 1772-1786. It was located in Maple Valley, Baltimore Co. near the Pennsylvania border. Those daughters were destined to be the pioneer Mother's of Morrow County, Ohio, for all that survived adulthood would make their homes along Shauck Creek. Dr. Christian Singrey lived near the Lemmon's, and well acquainted with the family. Three of the Lemmon daughters married into the family. Mary Lemmon married John Singrey, Jane Lemmon married Jehu and after she died, Rachel Lemmon married Jehu. Sarah Lemmon married Abraham Hetrick, Rebecca Lemmon married John Shauck III, Ruth Lemmon married John Edwards, Elizabeth never married and Temperence Lemmon married Mr. Coltrider and died in Maryland.

Alexis' wife Rachel Stansbury died in 1823 while in Maryland, so he and daughter Rachel moved to Morrow County, Ohio, he died 3 years later.
