On Mar 31, 1944 in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, she married Pio B. Quintela. They moved to New York after the war and in 1955 Billie was the victim of a mugger who pushed her down several flights of stairs outside their apartment. She suffered severe head trauma and remained hospitalized for several months.
After Billie was released from the hospital she had to move back home with her mother and brother so they could help take care of her.
She and Pio had no children.
