Tribute to Siobahn:

I was so sad to learn of Siobahn's passing. What a gorgeous cat she was. Of all K.'s cats, this one was my favorite.

My favorite memory of her is last summer, while I was housesitting while K. was in Ireland. Even though Siobahn was elderly, she seized every possible opportunity to escape to the wild outdoors. She would hide under the many beautiful bushes until I found her, a merry chase game.

Sometimes I wouldn't see her and would accidentally spray her with the garden hose, but she didn't seem to mind. She'd look outraged for a second and then come right over and rub around my ankles and purr. How she loved outdoor adventures.. .

K. had a tiny gnome statuary in the garden, and the gnome held an itty-bitty pot that would fill up with water quickly each time I watered the garden. Siobahn would drink from nothing but this tiny pot full of fresh water. What a cutie! Siobahn was a true Garden Kitty.

How I am going to miss her and her spunky ways. Even when she was very ill and I had not seen her for some time, when I went there to visit, she came over to me immediately for pets. This cat had Purrsonality Plus!!!

Since she was such a "Miss Spirit of Independence, " I put together an arrangement in her honor. I put a green foam Statue of Liberty and a flag in it, and I included "Psychedelic Blue Butterfly" pansies, which I grew from seeds K. gave me, along with some other ruffledy and frilly varieties which reminded me of Siobahn's ultra-feminine personality. Siobahn loved chasing butterflies, and since butterflies symbolize the resurrection, I thought it was fitting to include "Psychedelic Blue Butterfly" pansies.

I like to think Siobahn is blissfully romping in Heavenly Meadows full of butterflies and wildflowers right at this moment, near the Rainbow Bridge, making good friends with the beloved pets we have all lost throughout the years.---G.
