Cedar Rapids Gazette, Ralph F. Goody, 94, a resident to Living Center West, died there Saturday, Jan 18, 1997, after a lengthy illness. Services 2 pm, Monday, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, where friends may call after 1:30 pm, Burial - Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Blanche of Cedar Rapids; a son, Richard R. and wife Vera of Nassau Bay, TX,; a daughter Jean Salter and husband Stewart L. Jr., of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Stewart R. Salter of Hiawatha, Renea Salter Solmonson of Cedar Rapids, Scott A. Salter of Cedar Rapids, Richard Ralph Goody, Jr. of Alvin, TX., and Michael Goody of Garland, TX.; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Born Aug 30, 1902, in Iowa City to William and Mary Starry Goody, he married Blanche M. LeVora in 1930, in Missouri. A longtime resident of Iowa City, he lost his home and life's belongings in the flood of 1993. In 1993, he fell and broke his hip and had to move to Living Center West, where he resided until his death. He owned and operated a roller skating rink and dance hall in Iowa City with his brother, Louie and in 1930, he opened Goody's Tire Service and later purchased Goody's Used Auto Parts, which he operated until his retirement. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Iowa City.
