Aileen Hurley, 86, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2008 in Birmingham, AL. Aileen was born in Windsor, IL August 8, 1921 the daughter of Thomas Harvey Carter and Ruby (Dawdy) Carter. She was the wife of James Ellis Hurley for 50 years. They were married June 19, 1949 in Windsor, IL. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1999.

Aileen was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a bachelors and masters degree in education. She was a long time teacher in Illinois. She wasa member of Morningside Chapel Church of Christ.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Hurley of Omaha, NE, Pamela Holtkamp and husband, Mark of Birmingham, AL; two grandchildren Andrew Holtkamp of Birmingham, AL, Colin Holtkamp of Birmingham, AL; three brothers Thomas Carter of Decatur, IL, Paul Carter of Sullivan, IL, Russell Carter of Tucson, AZ, and one sister Dorothy Gillett, OR.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Samuel Carter.
