Equalization director Mac B. O'Dell dies Dec. 30
Funeral services were held Monday for Tuscola County Equalization Director Mac Bryan O'Dell, 55, who died Thursday, Dec. 30, at Saginaw General Hospital following a long illness.
O'Dell had served as Equalization Director since 1970, and was a former Cass City village assessor and treasurer.
He was born Nov. 10, 1921, in Twining, son of the late Jesse and Charlotte McPherson O'Dell. He married Miss Marion Townsend, June 21, 1941, at Colwood.
He was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1953. He started and was a member of the Calvary Baptist church of Caseville, serving as the church's first pastor. He was also pastor of the Clifford Baptist church.
O'Dell was a member of Tyler Lodge No. 317 F&AM of Cass City and the Royal Arch Masons No. 96 of Caro.
Survivors include his widow; one son, Michael of Cass City; two daughters, Mrs. Eddie (Cheryl) Paladi and Mrs. Robert (Christina) Coryell, both of Cass City; one brother, Harvey O'Dell of Whittemore, and one sister, Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Swanson of Bancroft, and four grandchildren. Eight brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
A Masonic memorial service was held Sunday evening under the auspices of Tyler Lodge No. 317 F&AM of Cass City.
The funeral was held at Little's Funeral Home with lay pastor William O'Dell of the Colfax United Methodist church and Rev. Milton Gelatt officiating.
Burial was in Elmwood cemetery.
