Former Hastings resident, Max D. Prostok, 88, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Atriums, in Overland Park, KS.
Graveside services will be Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 11 AM at Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com.

Mr. Prostok was born December 25, 1919, to Joseph and Elizabeth Prostok in Sioux City Iowa. His mother died when he was 8 and he was raised by his father and various friends and relatives of the area. He attended Central High School Omaha and graduated from the University of Nebraska. He served in the army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. In May of 1948 he married Bobbie Lehmann with whom he had three children. He joined Philipps Ladies Clothing and he along with his wife Bobbie were 3rd generation owners of this popular clothing store in Hastings, Nebraska. They worked side by side at Philiips for 40 years.

Mr. Prostok served on the Hastings City Council, was president of Hastings Jaycees, Board Member of Hastings Community Theatre, State Board of Directors for Nebraska Cancer Society, Board of Directors for the National Council of Community Mental Health Centers. He was a member of Rotary Club, Elks Club, Masonic Lodge 317, Scottish Rite, Ararat Shrine, Downtown Center Association and Lochland Golf Club.

He retired in 1988 and lived for 20 years in Delray Beach, Florida. He and Bobbie moved to Overland Park, KS in December of 2007 to be near family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bobbie Prostok; daughters Beth (Jeff) Dorfman of Leawood, KS, Judi (Jim) Gessford of Lincoln, NE, and son Jeff (Cynthia) Prostok of Ft. Worth, TX, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 30, at Mt. Sinai Cemetary in Hastings, Nebraska. The family suggests contributions to KC Hospice ,10100 W. 87th Street, Suite 100, Overland Park, KS 66212.
