He was born in Pittston, Oct. 5, 1918, and was a son of the late Edward and Lillian Thomas Davis.
He graduated from Pittston High School and attended Wilkes College.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pittston, where he served on various committees within the church.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a letter carrier in the Pittston Post Office. Sterling was an avid golfer and a former member of Emanon Country Club and the Monday Night Church League at Modern Lanes, Exeter.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul and Clayton.
He is survived by his wife, the former Doris Kelley; sons, William Davis, Elkins Park, Pa.; Donald Davis, San Raom, Calif.; four grandsons; and two granddaughters.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home, 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston. The Rev. David Brague will officiate.
Interment will be in Mountain View Burial Park, Harding.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 12:30 until service time at 1 p.m.
