Paul Benjamin was born in Ellenburg, New York. Parentage unknown. He married Victoria Charland abt. 1882 at Clinton Mills, NY. The couple were early pioneer settlers of Tupper Lake. They moved to the village sometime between abt.1889-1891 when the land was still veiled by the forest. He was employed by John Hurd and worked as a sawyer in the "Big Mill" soon after it's construction. He also worked as a janitor at the local high school for 6 years.
