William Hutchinson was born about 1725 in Atrium, Ireland and died October 19, 1804. He was the Irish patriarch of the Hutchinson family. He is buried next to his wife and was known as "Mother Eve." According to the story, her grave is on the left of William's grave and three feet from his grave. Irish custom calls for the husband and wife to be buried side by side with the wife on his left side. Both stones are made of the same material; soapstone. Her presumed marker on the left of William's lacks any marking. The footstones were made of granite. It is thought that "Mother Eve" passed away in the early 1790's.
