Mrs. Wilbur H. Copenhaver
HOWARD — Mrs. Helen M. Gardner Rider Copenhaver, 81, of Walnut St., Howard, died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday in the home of her son, Ralph P. Gardner, also of Howard, after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 4, 1894, in Tyrone, a daughter of Henry and Bessie Gingher Gault. Mrs. Copenhaver was married twice prior to marrying her present husband, Wilbur H. Copenhaver, who survives. She was first married to Raymond N. Gardner who died in 1940, and then to George Rider, who is also deceased.
She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church of Howard, the Howard Senior Citizens; the Howard Grange, and was a charter member of the Howard Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
During World War II, she was employed by Sylvania Electric in Mill Hall.
She is survived by five sons, Henry C. Gardner of Howard R.D.I; Clair C. Gardner of Blanchard; Lloyd and Richard Gardner, both of Bellefonte R.D., and Ralph P. Gardner of Howard; six daughters, Mrs. Lillian James and Mrs. Jean Brahm, both of Blanchard; Mrs. Leonore Bowers of Beech Creek, Mrs. Miriam Grubb of Bellefonte, Mrs. Mable Losch of Howard, and Mrs. Ellen
Bathurst of Howard R.D.2.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Gladys Rippey of Mill Hall and Mrs. Sarah Best of Lamar; 46 grandchildren; 84 greatgrandchildren; and six greatgreat-grandchildren ; one brother, Philip Gault of Tyrone; and five sisters, Mrs. Esther Woomer, Mrs. Leonore Fassinger, and Mrs. Dorothy Waring, all of Tyrone, Mrs. Mable Ross of Altoona, and Mrs. Maxine Lucas of Howard R.D.2.
