Services for Thelma L. Denney, 93, will be 2 p.m. Monday at CrystalRock Cathedral with Dr. Walt Spradling and the Rev. Herbert H. Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
Born Dec. 19, 1911 at Springer to Joe Oscar and Delia Bell Wallace Denney, she died Aug. 26, 2005 at a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and six sisters.
Ms. Denney had served as an Assembly of God evangelist, traveling to several states. She also served as assistant pastor at Hartford, Ark. and Hattiesburg, Miss. where she and the late Iva T. Harris were co-founders of Victory Assembly of God Church. She was an active member of CrystalRock Cathedral.
Ms. Denney loved her church and family. Even though she had no children she was a mother to many and an inspiration to all who knew her. She enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, and she was an accomplished seamstress, who made beautiful quilts. She was an excellent cook as well.
Survivors include one sister, Helen Helms, Ardmore; two brothers, Vernon Denney, Ardmore, and Wayne Denney, Ardmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bearers are Gene Jones, Darrell Lawyer, Ronnie Burns, Kevin Spradling, Joey Barns and Lonnie Cryer. Honorary bearers are Fount Owen, Leo Woodrow, Claude Austin and Bob Groomer.
