Born June 7, 1908, at Stillwater R.D. 1, he was the son of the late Harry and Edna Zimmerman Smith and had resided in Berwick the past 23 years. He previously resided in the Shickshinny section for a number of years.
Mr. Smith attended Huntington Township schools and for 16 years had been employed by ACF Industries, Inc., Berwick. He was last employed with the Berwick Police Department, retiring five years ago.
He and his wife, the former Cecelia Betterly, marked their 47th wedding anniversary last June 28.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Ira, of Wayne, Pa., and Dennis, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Louella) Jackson, Rochester, N.Y., and Mrs., Angelo (Edna) Garofalo, Webster, N.Y.; five grandchildren and one brother, Graham Smith, Fairless Hills, PA.
Services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 from the Robert Zofcin Funeral Home, Shickshinny, with the Rev. William F. Tucker, pastor of First Christian Church , Berwick, officiating. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Waterton.
Serving as bearers were Dennis, Ira, and Graham Smith, Angelo Garofalo, Kenneth and Randy Jackson
