Rex Clark Birch
Rex Clark Birch, 74, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home, in Mapleton, Utah, after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was born October 7, 1928, in Wilford, Idaho, to George Lawrence Birch and Florence Iras Clark. In 1950 he joined the Army and served in Korea as a tank gunner.

Rex married Sarah Ann Hill in 1951. Together they had 8 children. Later he married Bevonne Campbell Dean in 1981.

He attended USU in Logan, Utah. He farmed in Idaho and worked as an auto mechanic for many years. He especially loved gardening. In recent years he served missions for the LDS church to the Philippines and Ghana, West Africa with his wife Bevonne.

He survived by his wife, Bevonne; his sister, Myrna Speirs; seven children and seven step-children, Debra Zufelt, Michele Anderson, Jackie Clark, Robyn Bankhead, Lisa Christensen, Patty Bingham, Brett Birch, Lark Galley, Emilie Bentley, Stephen Dean, Paul H. Dean, Kim Davidson, Krisie Merrill, and Katalina Maybee; 54 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janel Jenkins, brother, Kay Birch and sister, Thora Robinson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 12, in the LDS Chapel, 179 North 100 East, at Smithfield, Utah. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Interment in the Smithfield City Cemetery with military honors.
