Janel B, Jenkins, 34, of Freedom, WY died on Feb 23, 1991, as a result of injuries
received in a tubing (coasting) accident. Funeral services were held Wednesday Feb
27, in the Freedom LDS Ward. Interment was in the Freedom Cemetery.
She was born March 8, 1956 in Idaho Falls, ID to Rex and Ann Birch. She married
Chad K. Jenkins on Aug 21, 1975 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Janel graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, UT in 1974. She received
her nursing degree from Ricks College in Rexburg, in 1976.
She enjoyed nursing and serving other people. At the time of her death she was
employed by the Star Valley Regional Hospital as a registered nurse, working on a
limited basis at the hospital and with the home health care of needing individuals.
Janel loved to sew and was a very talented seamstress. Her daughters have always
had beautiful handmade dresses. she was a talented pianist and singer.
Janel loved and enjoyed working with the youth. At the time of her death she was
serving as secretary of the Young Women organization and supporting her husband in
his calling as bishop of the Freedom Ward.
She had held various positions in the Young Women, Primary and Sunday School. Janel
loved visiting teaching and attending the temple.
Janel is survived by her husband Chad, son Todd, daughters; Jodi, Jamie, Terri and
Kami, all of Freedom; her parents Ann Birch of Layton, UT and Rex Birch of Sandy,
UT; sisters Mrs Curtis (Jackie) Clark of Smithfield, UT; Mrs Mark (Patty) Bingham of
Millvile, UT, Mrs Jay (Lisa) Christensen of College Ward, UT, Mrs Phillip (Robyn)
Bankhead of Wellsville, UT, Mrs Jim (Debbie) Zufelt of Orem, UT, Mrs Val (Michele)
Anderson of Ephraim, UT and brother Brett Birch of Layton, UT.
