SOUTH POINT - Effie Wheeler, 92, of South Point died Monday at a local health care center.

The Greenup County, Ky., native was born Dec. 14, 1910, the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie McCarty Reliford.

She was the wife of the late Rev. Delbert M. Wheeler.

She was a homemaker and a member of Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Helping Hands Club, and attended Greenup County Schools.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlene Wolfe; one son, Bernard D. Wheeler; three brothers, Warnie Reliford, Clyde Reliford and Charles Reliford; and two sisters, Pearlie Reliford and Jessie Sexton.

Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. Wheeler, Charles H. and Yvonne Wheeler and Harry Wheeler, all of South Point, Clyde E. and Barbara Wheeler of Deering, Jimmy and Sue Wheeler of Coal Grove; one daughter and son-in-law, Nellie and John Blankenship of Venice, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Ice Creek Cemetery, with minister Larry Mullen officiating. Visitation will be after 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home.
