GEO SHARROCK PASSES BEYOND
George A Sharrock, for long years a prominent farmer of the county died at his home in the Algerine district Wednesday night after an illness which had extended over a year. The direct cause of death was chronic bronchitis, which was attended by arterio-sclerosis.
Deceased was a native of Dallas, Texas where he was born int he early 50's and when a child of a few years he came to California with his parents and settled in Tuolumne county where he maintained an almost unbroken residence of 74 years. When death claimed him he was 78 years, 1 month and 20 days. His late father, Everard Sharrock, was of the hardy pioneer stock and was beloved for his study manhood and honorable practices. Under his influence his son George grew to manhood and shared the attributes of his good father's heart and mind, earned the esteem and respect of his neighbors and friends and which he held until life's candle ceased to glow for him.
George Sharrock was prominent in politics in the earlier years which activities finally led to his election as Constable for the Sonora district which he served with such distinction as to cause influence to be exerted to have him stand for the Democratic nomination for Sheriff in the county. He could not be prevailed upon to stand for the higher office, the Constable job having revealed to him that politics were only interesting to him from the sideline.l His life was chiefly devoted to farming and except for the years he lived in Sonora while holding office, the Sarrock acres, about six miles south of Sonora, was his home.
A kindly, friendly and charitable man he helped many when help was needed. His interest in the welfare of others and the genuine sympathy he felt and communicated to those in misfortune built up many beautiful friendships that endured to the end. Regret at his death it well-night universal and his devoted wife, three sons and a sister have the sympathy of the community in the sorrow they feel at the passing of a kind and loving husband, father and brother. The sons are Warren and Lloyd Sharrock of this county and George Sharrock of Oakland. His sister is Mrs A C Stone of this city.
The funeral was conducted this Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Burden chapel with C H Burden directing, Rev R E Tidmarsh conducted the service. Internment was in the IOOF cemetery.
